A TYPICAL EVENING
7.45
pm The doors open and the beginners class starts at 8 o clock.
If you are new, try and arrive a little earlier so we can welcome
you and give you some guidance.
If you are feeling a bit nervous, you can grab a drink from the
bar first.
8 pm The beginners class lasts for about 45 minutes.
Everyone is guided into rows on the dance floor and partnered
up. We'll show you four moves demonstrated from the stage, rotating
partners as the moves are taught, and then show you how to link
all the moves together by which time you will be dancing all
four moves to the music and you will have met almost everyone
in the room.
8.45 pm After the lesson we have a period of "Freestyle"
when we encourage you to practice what you have just learnt.
Most dancers, including the teachers, will be out there to help
you, so you'll gradually feel more confident each time you come
to a class. We dim the lighting to give a nice social atmosphere
and you'll be able to get another well earned drink by then.
9.30 pm We follow on with an intermediate lesson lasting
for about 30 minutes for those dancers who have been coming for
about 6-8 weeks. New dancers are encouraged to stay and watch
as you can carry on dancing or practising after the class.
10 pm Freestyle dancing continues until around 11 pm
when everyone gets back out on the dance floor to practice or
socialise, and enjoy the rest of the evening.
NEWQUAY JIVE is well known for being most friendly
and welcoming.
